NATYAM
" Natyam than natakamchaiva, pujyam purva katha yutham"
According to sages 'Natya' is the only art form which is uniformly pleasing the people of widely different tastes. Natya means 'Naatakam' which means the presentation of a play on the stage assimilated with music, emotions, body movements and dialogues.
NRTTA
" Rasa-bhav-abhinaya hinamtu nrttam-ithya-bhidhiyathe"
Nrtta means pure dance, a presentation of rhythm through graceful movement of the body. This presentation of dance does not stress on facial expressions. Footwork is given prominence in this. Beat and tempo are the guiding factors for the synchronization between the rhythm and time. Abhinayadarpanam defines nrtta as bodily movements without evoking Rasa and Bhava.
NRUTYA
" Rasa-bhava vyanjanaadhi-yuktham nrityam-ithir-yathe"
Nritya consists of footwork and abhinaya. It relates to Rasa and psychological state. It can be termed as the explanatory aspect of dance where hand gestures and facial expressions convey the meaning of lyrics. Bhava of the dancer is of prime importance in this so it can also be considered as the miming aspect of dance.
